The Sims 4 City Living includes a Social Media Career, which lets you choose to become either a superstar Internet Personality or a Public Relations Representative. Both of these are solid careers with unique abilities, and certainly more interesting to take than the Politician due to the sheer number of interactions you can unlock. Because these careers require a social media presence, you can begin using the Social Networking feature on computers as soon as you join them, instead of needing Charisma Level 5.

WORK FROM HOME

This applies to both branches of this career, along with the other two included in the City Living Expansion Pack. Each day before work, you will see a popup in the lower left corner. Selecting this, you can choose to have your Sim work from home. You'll get a couple of tasks that must be completed in order to secure your pay and career performance. Aside from the tasks you're given, you have total control and can use the time to skill up or else work on career promotion requirements.

SOCIAL MEDIA CAREER LEVELS 1-3

The initial ideal mood is Playful. Since the skill requirements for these first 3 levels are not very difficult, consider which branch you will take so that you can begin to raise the skills you'll need. This will smooth out the promotion process and make it a little less likely you're stalled on one level for a long time.

INTERNET PERSONALITY BRANCH

The ideal mood for this branch is Playful. The most significant difficulty here is obtaining followers, but thankfully you are given many means to do so - knowing you need many more for each level should help. The Prank Streamers (under social networking) and Let's Play (under Play Games on Computer) contribute substantially more followers than other means of social networking - pranking in particular contributing hundreds of thousands when it goes well, though it does have a cooldown. You need to play games for a few hours in order to gain followers, it tells you how many you've gained when you stop playing. Note the jumps in skill level requirements from Video Gaming to Charisma, Comedy and Mischief. It is one of the harder careers to level for this reason, and provides less money per day in salary than certain other Careers. It makes up for this, big time, with the abilities you unlock as you level.

As in reality, you can sell out when you have a huge social media following, by advertising products. Doing so can net you well over 1k Simoleons (I got 1500) for the major product, and several hundred for a minor product. However, you lose followers when you do this. The Internet Personality gets a major edge over the PR Branch of this Career due to its ability to recover followers rapidly. The income generation helps this career to surpass others, and it is arguably one of the best-paying as you can earn money on demand, then recover followers.

PUBLIC RELATIONS BRANCH

The Ideal Mood for this branch of Social Media is Focused. Your new daily task, Network with Journalists, is found on the computer. Given the need to get up to 10,000 Followers on social media, you should be working on this even on levels where it is not required. Just a post here and there will do. The more followers you get, the more you'll gain as they help you to market your profile. When you are away from home, use the Shout Out/Status Update from Venue ability that is found on your phone under the home tab. It gives more followers than the usual computer interactions, but does feature a cooldown.

The Sims 4's Scientist Career is a fun new Active Career added with the Get to Work Expansion Pack. While on the job, you'll do a lot of science-y activities and unlock new inventions and serums, upgrade your SimRay, as well as the ability to order your co-workers around. There are loads of lab coats and accessories to unlock for your Sim in CAS as you get promoted, and you'll gradually get the ability to travel to Sixam, the Alien World in The Sims 4! Look to the screenshots here to see the three pieces of equipment you need to properly do your job. Below, you will find a listing of all the serums and inventions, with what those do and what you need to make them.

You'll need no particular traits to be successful as a Scientist, given the negligible boost that Focused provides to active careers. Geek can be good, given the collectibles present at the Science Lab. Something like 'Good' or 'Cheerful' may be handy as a buffer against negative moods, however. The Curator Aspiration is a little easier to complete as a Scientist, given the collecting opportunities afforded by being able to ask your coworkers for crystalsmetals, collectible opportunities on the Laboratory lot itself, and the use of the SimRay to transform duplicate items (very random, but can help!).

A lot of little things can happen at work, but I'll leave those up to you to discover! For example there are collecting days, and days where Aliens have infiltrated the lab. On collecting days, you'll learn of the many valuable items that can be found on the Science Lab's lot. You can get the required 10 collectibles very easily by harvesting the plants in the lab. These plants should be tended from time to time if you want to use them, because they can die.

Scientists can earn gobs of money using the SimRay in its upgraded form. Its transform function effectively changes objects into different variants. Sometimes the same type, sometimes not, but when you start with a cheap object and transform it, you're almost guaranteed to have something more valuable to sell in buy mode.

Be aware that if you're running behind on performance for the day, you can stay late. Know however that there's no need to keep going once you've filled the bar. You'll get the maximum performance for that day. Just be sure to stay until your shift is over, because you get a hefty performance penalty for leaving early even if your work is done.

Using the Notebook
You can access your Sim's notebook by clicking the phone, then the notebook button at the top of any of its screens. This will show you the ingredients to make any of the inventions or serums. This handy little section also tracks your progress in gardening by providing combinations of plants used to create new species

The Sims 4's Doctor Career comes via the Get to Work Expansion Pack and is one of the most challenging Careers I've ever covered. In this Career, you will start with janitorial duties, interruption of actual Doctors with socials, and patient relations and proceed to being able to run your own tests and diagnose patients. As you go forward, the Career gets more defined although menial tasks will still pop up as objectives. You will eventually be able to perform surgeries and deliver Sim Babies as you advance, while your Sim will also have a clearer picture of what is wrong with the patient as they progress. The Doctor's Career level determines success rate with many interactions. Try to take care of patients as much as possible, and do not misdiagnose them, for fear of losing job performance! This guide should help you with those things, as I have a list of symptoms of each illness, while I'll also share the Doctor's career schedule and rewards.

The Ideal Mood for this Career is Focused, though it only helps to raise your Sim's work performance bar and does not factor into diagnosing patients. This is best done by using 'Ponder Moves' on a chess table before work or using Browse Simpedia at a computer. While at the hospital, you can use the computer to 'Research Health Reports on Medical Journal' and remain Focused (+2). This helps a lot. You can also hang Mathematical Diagrams (via Logic with an Easel) in the area where Patients are treated. For those who wonder, Logic does not factor into diagnosing at all. Only the symptoms narrowing via Doctor job rank and your own observations.

General Advice for Doctors
At level 1, you won't have much to do regarding patients. Try to do things that are nearby in order to raise your performance. You have two days to get promoted, so it should be easy. Don't stay late, because two days is plenty of time to get your first promotion. At level 2, when your objectives change to feature more of treating patients, look for those that have already been diagnosed. This is required for the promotion. They should have a flashing red over them. You can administer the medication, even if you're not quite ready to deliver a full diagnosis. Your Career Performance will go up as you treat patients, though you may have a harder time finishing objectives within the 10-12 hour shift if you do too much of this. You get the little bumps from treating patients, and a big bonus at the end of the day based on the main bar at top left.

At level 3, you should see more medical tasks - lots of 'Examine Patient' interactions. You can then Transfer Case to a Doctor after you have done enough tests. Let new objectives come in as you clear them, so that you don't waste time. You may be called to do temperature, then check eyes. Pause to be more time-efficient, as objectives take a moment to come in. When you need to transfer a case, get a Doctor in conversation then use the 'Transfer' interaction to complete this objective. You may need to perform more tests to transfer the case. Again, look for patients with red flashes to deliver treatment. They've already been diagnosed and are ready for medicine.

he Sims 4 Get to Work features the ability to play Detective. In this Active Career track, you will gradually gain more freedom to pursue solving cases and get promotions. In this guide, I'll discuss some of the activities these law enforcers can pursue while on the job, and the best methods to completing cases and locking up suspects.

Much of what I have to say relates to the Career after level 4, when a Sim is expected to start solving cases on their own. You can find a partial list of career objectives below and how to complete them. After the first level, you will make more progress on a case and get to arrest your first suspect. At level 3, you're expected to interrogate them. For these first three levels, follow the instructions and try to complete as many objectives as possible while in the Ideal Mood of Focused. After you secure your first confession, you will have level 4's 'Solve one case' complete and be ready to solve more.

Recommended Traits and Rewards
The Genius Trait is helpful, since it makes Sims Focused at random which may happen at a good time. So is Good, because it gives a Happy Moodlet whenever a Sim nearby is in a positive mood, and they usually are. Detectives benefit greatly from learning Sims' Traits. This means that the Observant Reward (500 Points) is super helpful to Detectives. They'll know Traits right away when meeting a Sim. Other factors for making an arrest are on you - assessing a Sim's physical appearance should they fit the bill. Take Entrepreneurial for 2,000 points whenever you have them to spare, and it will help you to get promoted much faster so long as you can meet the minimum solved case requirements.

Getting Focused at Work
Use interactions that can get your Sim Focused before heading to a crime scene - like Level 2 Gardening's Research Gardening at Computer, when used with Browse Simpedia is very powerful and may result in Very Focused. Unlock Research Gardening by buying a low level Gardening Skill book, then reading it in your Sim's spare time. You should be able to maintain Focus while at the station. Make lots of Mathematical Diagrams at home, then take them with you to work. This is done when a Sim is Focused and using an easel to paint one. Hang these, enable their emotional auras in places your Sim works - the interrogation room, the evidence analysis room, and where your Sim typically uses the computer. 'View Focused Work' on them before you head out to a crime scene and your Sim will get a nice Focused buff that lasts outside the painting's range.

Thanks to Forum member melbrewer367 for giving me this idea. The following table lists all top-level jobs by total earned per week and is meant to help you decide what Career to pick for your Sim in order to make the most money. This includes both max-level jobs for each of the ten Careers. There is a flow to the table in that you get $/hour, hours worked, then the pay earned in that day, days worked, thus the total earned for the week. For those of you looking for efficiency, I've bolded two of the best scores - (highest per hour) and also most per day, though I bolded the top two there because Diamond Agents work 15 hours and that is far higher than any other. For those who want fewest days worked, I bolded those with the current minimum of 2 - both writer/painter - appropriately, since those careers can earn competitive wages working from home in those branches. Fewest hours (5) have also been bolded for some Careers. Remember that Careers also give rewards, and the value of those cannot be quantified because it's up to you to decide what you want. You can browse the career pages to learn a bit about some of the rewards you'll unlock along the way.
